Phones WhatsApp Will Not Work on by February 2020

Popular messaging app “WhatsApp” by “Facebook” which works probably on numerous phones of different brands recently announced phones that won’t support the messaging app again by February 1st 2020.

Many of the low-end smartphones in the market today do support WhatsApp which is a great deal for many, and that’s how notable WhatsApp has become. But before now and up till now WhatsApp has been dishing out old phones from the messaging app.

WhatsApp is primarily ending support for many old operating systems on phones, that is WhatsApp on old model of phones won’t be able to create new accounts or to reverify any existing one.

WhatsApp noted on their FAQ page that users of phones running Android version 2.3.7 and older, and for iOS, iPhones running iOS 7 and older will wholly not support the use of WhatsApp after February 1st, 2020.

This notice is for those of us that still got that old iphone or Android phone at home. I get it that some of us kept it for backup purposes, in case anything happens to the current phone we are using. Just note that WhatsApp on that phone won’t run again by February 1st, 2020.

A Tweet by WABetainfo

A tweet by WABetainfo, reads that even phones running iOS 8, won’t support WhatsApp again, it also states that users that already has WhatsApp installed on their phones, can use it but if they reinstall it, they won’t be able to verify, which means, no verification, no WhatsApp.

Why WhatsApp has been making these new upgrades lately is because they are adding some new and robust features that won’t run fitly on lower Android and iOS versions, features like the new fingerprint authentications, picture in picture video within chats etc.

These are features that need powerful phones with enough RAM and the latest OS to run, thus the dishing of older Android and iOS versions.
